Customers, a mom and preteen daughter enter store.
Me: oh my goodness that is an adorable handbag!
Customer: just looks at me
Me: So are you ladies starting to do some early back to school shopping?
Customer: no response.
45 seconds later
Customer: um, excuuuuseee me, can I get some assistance over here or what?
Me: certainly! What can I help you with.
Customer asks to see an item and I bring it to her.
Customer: what is wrong with you?
Me: nothing
Customer: something is obviously wrong. What’s wrong?
I hesitate, debating on just pretending like nothing is wrong, decide it is not out of line to admit she upset me.
Me: you just upset me a little but I’m fine.
Customer: how the hell did I upset you?! I’m the customer!
Me: yes, but I’m also a human and when people treat me the way you did it upsets me.
Customer: we’ll I was just standing here waiting for you to help me and you didn’t even ask.
Me: I tried talking to you and got no response so I was trying to be polite and give you space to look.
Customer: you’re a bitch.
Me: I disagree, but if you’d like to teach your daughter that a woman standing up for herself deserves to be called that name, I won’t stop you.
Customer: death stare, storms out.
Was clocked in for 73.75 hours last week. Working 13 today. Here’s to hoping this will one day be worth it…
